Agricultural case study
Welcome to our agricultural case study
The 100kW array was installed on a 17 year old grain store in Cambridgeshire. The roof faces due South at a pitch of 22°. 3 phase power was available on site but it’s not essential single phase will support systems of up to 50kWph.
Installation Summary
- 1250 roof fixings
- 504 Hyundai Solar panels (0.88m wide x 1.45m long)
- Total weight of panels 9 tonnes (18kg each)
- 3000m cable in 36 strings of 14 modules
- Power generated in form of 600A DC current
- 24 Fronius inverter modules to turn current from DC to AC so that it can be used on site and the remainder sent to the grid.
Cost
The overall cost was £340,000, with the revenue from selling the electricity to the grid (plus the feed-in tariff) and using it to power the grain handling equipment expected to amount to about £34,000/year.
