Biomass heating

One of the cheapest ways to reduce energy bills and significantly reduce carbon emissions

We supply and install the KÖB and Herz range of boilers. This combination of equipment covers a wide range of capacities and budgets. Both are well established Austrian manufacturers with excellent track records for good quality equipment.

The advantages of biomass in commercial applications are particularly meaningful in off-gas areas where an installation can offer a lower total cost of ownership as well as a reduction in carbon footprint. In industrial situations where wood is processed e.g. kitchen and joinery manufacturing the benefits are huge as the waste can be used to heat the factory. This reduces or eliminates the heating bill, reduces landfill costs and reduces transport.

How they work
Biomass boilers are capable of burning logs, wood pellets and wood chips at very high temperatures creating little residual ash. Log systems are often manually loaded, but wood and chip systems can be partially or fully automated.

Chip and pellet boilers
Chips are usually delivered by a tipping trailer so underground stores are easy to fill. There are some chip blown deliveries available they are much less common than tippers. Pellets are usually blown into the store so stores can be at first floor level or even at a distance inside the building. The latest designs of biomass boilers offer operational efficiency over 85%.

Log boilers
Boilers are economically priced but require manual loading. They do work well with solar systems as the boiler can be left idle during the summer.
