Sponge Cakes
Holt

The ambition

Sponge celebrates the nicer things in life. The business had been selling cakes in their high-end café, Byfords of Holt, since September 2000. With old-school standards and quality ingredients, the cakes developed quite the following. During 2009, the business tested whether the cakes would have a wider appeal, which it did. The Sponge brand was born and now the wide product variety is manufactured in Holt and sold online nationally with next day delivery. With increasing energy prices and a commitment to reducing their environmental impact, Sponge knew that they had to investigate alternative sources of energy.

The solution

As with all our solutions, we conducted a thorough analysis of Sponge’s energy consumption patterns and needs, together with an analysis of the physical environment at the manufacturing facility in Holt.

We designed and installed a bespoke solution across multiple roofs to ensure optimum yield while taking the operational requirements such as airvents into account.
