Underfloor Heating

Unparalleled comfort through intelligent underfloor heating

Eco-Conversions is RenEnergy’s established and trusted underfloor heating brand. Eco conversions have been designing, supplying and installing underfloor heating since 2003; installing over 1500 systems in all kinds of buildings from homes to chicken sheds, and retrofits to barn conversions.

How underfloor heating works

Water is heated by the heat source to a temperature between 40°C - 50°C. When a room or zone calls for heat the warm water passes through the zone valve to the manifold where the water is circulated through pipes buried in screed under the floor. The heat is then released into the room via the floor.

The heating system is managed by the controls. A roomstat in a zone will call for heat - (the target / set point temp is higher than the room temp). It will then check that it is within a time-on schedule. If so it will create a demand on the wiring centre which will open the valve / actuator for that particular zone. This will then fire the boiler / HP and the UFH pump will turn delivering heat to the correct zone.

Getting the controls right is of paramount importance if you want to get the most out of the system. RenEnergy recommends the iCon control system which is capable of learning the heating characteristics of each room or zone giving you the right temperature in the right place. The iCon system can also control several different heat sources at once (boiler, solar thermal panels, heat pump, hot water) allowing you to use the cheapest fuel source first and removing the need for multiple controls.

Key benefits of underfloor heating

UFH heating can provide energy savings between 15 – 50%.

Underfloor heating removes the need for radiators so it doesn’t take up any wall or floor space.

Underfloor heating emits radiant heat, which delivers a near perfect temperature profile and heats evenly eliminating hot or cold spots and draughts.

Underfloor heating is the ideal partner to renewable heat sources due to low flow temperatures

Underfloor heating installation considerations

Underfloor heating is ideal for new builds or extensions but it can be retrofitted with excellent results.
